In a bold move, Luke has stepped up to the KF1 category for this weekend’s (21/22 March) opening round of the British Super 1 Championship at PFi in Lincolnshire.



In Europe he will continue to compete in the ultra-competitive KF2 class, but believes that competing in the sport’s premier KF1 class in the UK will be beneficial.

He says, “The team and I sat down and we decided that the very best drivers in Britain are competing in KF1. In fact, some of my English counterparts who race in KF2 abroad are already doing this - so it makes sense for me to do the same.”
“Our circuits tend to be shorter and less technical than places like Sarno (near Naples) and Lonato (at South Garda, Italy). There’s less grip, so they’re actually easier to drive on. Although, the style of racing here is different – it’s a lot more physical and aggressive.”
This year’s British Super 1 Championship has attracted a large, quality-packed entry and Luke will have to contend with experienced series regulars, not least the four-time British Champion, 26-year old Mark Litchfield.
“Mark’s definitely the man to beat, especially at PFi as it’s his home track. But of all the domestic circuits, PF is the most like a continental one. The team and I have been working hard since our last race and we’re confident that we’ll be pushing for a trophy on Sunday.”
Timed Qualifying starts on Saturday morning, with heats held in the afternoon and on Sunday morning before the points-scoring finals start in the afternoon. |
